Listening to the Universe (23 June 2019)
Mr. Tan Hoe Teck

Radiotelescopes are interesting tools that allow us to "hear" into the Universe. A few simple radio telescopes are introduced to the audience with a comparison of the prices and operational frequencies. To conclude the presentation, a radio fox hunting activity was carried out to test the participants' "listening" skills.

Mr. Tan Hoe Teck received his BSc (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Physics Department. He is a senior Physics teacher in School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SSTS). He received the IPS Cresendas Physics Medal and Prize (2009) for outstanding physics teaching at JC level. Elected Member of Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS).
